Srinagar, January 22 (KNS): Former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) president, Dr. Farooq Abdullah today asserted that no one can dictate terms to the government.
"This Govt has been formed to serve the people. What is fun of this Govt if it can't work for welfare of people. This Govt is for everyone. We made 4 ministers from Jammu despite not getting votes in the region," he made these remarks during a press conference in Jammu.
According to KNS correspondent, Abdullah reiterated his commitment to the development of Jammu & Kashmir, saying, "Our duty is to serve. May Allah give us the strength to fulfill this responsibility.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"
Criticizing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for forming an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) earlier, Abdullah questioned the rationale behind the coalition, especially when the Congress and NC had extended support to the PDP to form the government. "I told Mr. Mufti [Mohammad Sayeed] not to interfere. Despite our offer, he chose to go with the BJP. What happened after that? The people of Jammu & Kashmir are well aware," Abdullah remarked.
The former CM expressed concern over the state of media freedom in the region, claiming, "The media today is unable to speak or write freely. While questions can be asked." (KNS)
