Srinagar April 12 (KNS): The Department of Floriculture Bandipora conducted an interaction program with floriculture growers. The objective of the programme was to sensitize them about the commercial floriculture sector, focusing on the key areas viz:
Establishing ornamental nurseries
Producing cut flowers under protected and open conditions.
- Post-harvest management
- Aromatic plant cultivation
- Value addition
During the program, the officials elaborated on the components and financial incentives under the CSS-MIDH and Agriculture Extension (ATMA) schemes.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelGrowers were advised to leverage these government initiatives to pursue commercial floriculture activities in the district.
The benefits of engaging in commercial floriculture were highlighted, including:
- High Profits: Floriculture crops offer higher profits per unit area compared to traditional crops
- *Growing Demand: growing demand of Ornamental plants, cut flowers, and aromatic oils was high lighted
This interaction program is part of an ongoing initiative by the Department of Floriculture, Kashmir to bridge the gap between growers and the department to promote commercial floriculture and generate livelihood opportunities for unemployed youth.(KNS)
