Former CJI T.S. Thakur Withdraws from Book Launch of A.S. Dulat’s Memoir Amid Political Row

New Delhi, April 18 (KNS): Former Chief Justice of India Justice T.S. Thakur has withdrawn from the launch of the book “The Chief Minister and The Spy” by former R&AW chief A.S. Dulat, citing concerns over the political controversy triggered by the book’s content.

The book, scheduled to be launched on April 18, has sparked a media storm over remarks attributed to former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah — remarks which Dr. Abdullah has publicly denied and distanced himself from.

In a letter to Shri Dulat, Justice Thakur expressed regret over his withdrawal, stating, “The raging controversy and its political overtones would be an embarrassment for me… not only on account of my long and cordial association with the Abdullah family but also because as a totally apolitical person, I would not like to be seen promoting or endorsing a book which is being disowned by the very person about whom the same has been written.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Justice Thakur also hinted that Dr. Abdullah may not attend the event either, where he was expected to join a panel discussion with senior journalist Vir Sanghvi.

While apologizing for the short notice and any inconvenience caused, Justice Thakur underscored the importance of maintaining impartiality and discretion in politically sensitive matters.

The publisher has not yet commented on the development. (KNS)
