Srinagar, Nov 2 (KNS): Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone Saturday said security forces neutralized a militant involved in the recent killing of Inspector Masroor Mir in an encounter in Srinagar’s Khanyar area.
Speaking to KNS, inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, confirmed the operation’s success while speaking exclusively to Kashmir News.
According to IGP Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in collaboration with the CRPF's Valley Quick Response Team, received credible information about suspected terrorist movement in the Khanyar area. Acting swiftly on this intelligence, security forces launched a coordinated cordon-and-search operation around the suspected hideout.
“As our personnel approached the house where the militant was hiding, they came under heavy fire,” said IGP Kashmir.

During the intense exchange, the forces successfully eliminated a foreign terrorist, later identified as Usman Lashkari, who was affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group.
Lashkari, who had been active in the valley for several months, was also linked to the killing of Inspector Masroor Mir in the Eidgah area, IGP Bidhuri added. A large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the site, underscoring the threat he posed to the valley.
IGP Kashmir praised the swift response and alertness of the security forces, highlighting their dedication to thwarting terror activities and ensuring peace in the Valley. (KNS)
