New Delhi, Oct 4 (KNS): Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan on Sunday said good governance, transparency and trust were the “invisible infrastructure” of a modern economy and essential for sustaining investor confidence.
Addressing the 58th Foundation Day celebrations of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) at Bharat Mandapam here, Radhakrishnan congratulated the ICSI fraternity and appreciated its contribution to strengthening transparent, ethical and inclusive corporate governance.
He said the transformation of ICSI over nearly six decades mirrored the evolution of the company secretary profession, which now plays an important role in strengthening corporate transparency, investor confidence and India's position in the global economy.
In an era driven by artificial intelligence, advanced data analytics and rapidly evolving business models, the Vice-President called upon company secretaries to uphold the legal, strategic and ethical foundations of corporate India.
“Technology may transform the manner in which information is generated and decisions are supported, but integrity, accountability, transparency and responsibility remain human,” he said.
Describing company secretaries as “guardians of governance”, Radhakrishnan said they were at the centre of the trust architecture of India Inc and had an important role in enabling enterprises, start-ups, family businesses and listed companies to grow responsibly.
He said strong institutions and sound governance would be as important as physical and digital infrastructure in building a Viksit Bharat.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
