Despite the snowfall, officials confirmed that traffic on the Bandipora–Gurez road is moving smoothly, with continuous monitoring to ensure commuter safety.
Local reports from Tulail indicated moderate snowfall continuing late into the evening, while lower areas including Dawar, Bagtore, and Kanzalwan saw intermittent rain, intensifying the cold conditions.
A senior district official told KNS that snow clearance teams and machinery are on standby.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“Our staff is fully prepared to respond immediately if the snowfall increases,” the official said.
Residents welcomed the first snowfall of the season, calling it refreshing and scenic, though many expressed concern that continuous snow could block the valley’s only road link.
Located at an altitude of around 11,700 feet, the Razdan Pass remains the sole connection between Gurez and the rest of the Kashmir Valley. The route often closes for several months each winter due to heavy snowfall. (KNS)
