India's diversity is its beauty, we should respect all religions

New Delhi, Sep 12 (KNS) : A prominent Kashmir cleric on Saturday claimed that religious scholars, intellectuals and business community members from India, who participated in an interaction with Iranian President Dr. Firdaus Khan, unanimously agreed that the United States has been committing "atrocities" against Iran for 48 years.

Aga Syed Hassan Mosavi Al Safavi, speaking to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), said the literature received from the interaction was in Farsi and that everyone had expressed regret over the situation.

"This cruelty should not happen to Iran alone. It should not happen to the whole world. We are brothers, we are human beings. We are the children of the air and the atom," he said.

He said the Iranian President, in his address, expressed "pain and sorrow for humanity" and emphasised the need for unity and justice.

"We should live together with unity. For betterment, whether it be technology or education, we should work on it.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWe should live like brothers. We should all work for justice. Justice is not about colour or caste. Justice is for everyone," Al Safavi said.

According to the cleric, the Iranian President told the Prime Minister that the situation in India and Iran is "much better than expected" and that the two countries have been working together like neighbours.

"I am very happy about that. There is a chance of prosperity in that too," he said.

On the Vande Mataram controversy, which was sung during a programme in Jammu and Kashmir Flim Festival and drew protests from the Congress, Al Safavi said India's diversity is its strength.

"India is beautiful because there are Muslims, Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and many other ethnicities living here. We have been living here for centuries. We should respect all religions," he said.

Notably, two other Kashmiri leaders, including Kashmir's chief cleric Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Imran Reza Ansari, were also invited to an interaction with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian in New Delhi. (KNS)
