GMC Srinagar Condoles Demise of Prof. Dr. Hamid Ali Durrani

Srinagar, Dec 19 (KNS): Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar has expressed its deepest condolences on the sad demise of Prof. Dr. Hamid Ali Durrani, former Professor of Medicine and a pioneer of Gastroenterology in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a condolence message, Principal and Dean, GMC Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Iffat Hassan, described Prof. Durrani as a towering figure in the medical fraternity, stating that his passing has created an irreparable void. She said that his unwavering dedication to medicine, commitment to academic excellence, and exceptional mentorship will continue to inspire generations of medical professionals.

Prof. Dr. Hamid Ali Durrani began his distinguished career as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at GMC Srinagar in the late 1960s. An alumnus of King George’s Medical College, Lucknow, Prof. Durrani was widely respected for his vast medical expertise, integrity, altruism, discipline, and strong sense of responsibility. He mentored and guided numerous medical professionals, many of whom are today serving with distinction across India and abroad.

The faculty and administrative staff of GMC Srinagar expressed solidarity with the bereaved family during this moment of profound grief and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul, as well as strength and fortitude for the family to bear this irreparable loss.(KNS)
