Srinagar, Oct 04 (KNS): Government has amended Jammu and Kashmir Compassionate Appointment Rules, 1994 and issued the appointment orders to the next kin of policemen who died as a result of militancy related activities.
The amendment, in rule 5, after sub-rule(3), the sub-rule was added to benefit the next kin of deceased policemen.
"(4) Notwithstanding anything contained in provisos first and second to sub-rule (1) of rule 3 of these rules, spouse, unmarried son and unmarried daughter of a deceased Police Personnel/SPO who died as a result of militancy related incident may be considered for appointment in the Police Department under these rules by the General Administration Department on case to case basis subject to the condition that Director General of Police certifies that the said Police Personnel/SPO has been killed in a militancy-related incident,” it reads.
“In case the applicant does not possess the required physical standards as per the Police Rules, he/she shall be considered for appointment against the post of Class-IV (Follower) in the Police Department,” it adds.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
It said that only those cases which are pending on the date of the issuance of Notification SRO-255 of 2016 dated 05-08-2016, shall be considered in accordance with the said notification. “However, the said notification shall not be applicable to the cases of the family member of the SPOs who have died in militancy related incidents prior to 01.10.2009."
There was around 180 cases pending before the authorities. “In these cases, around 70 cases were in which policemen died as militancy related activities. In all these cases, the orders have now been issued,” said an official.
Meanwhile, the left out cases have appealed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to also provide them one time relaxation so that they are also benefited by the amendment. (KNS)
