Hakeem Yaseen Calls J&K Assembly Resolution a Beginning, Not the End

Srinagar, Nov 07(KNS): Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (J&K PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has welcomed the passing of the special status resolution by the J&K Assembly, calling it a beginning but not the end. He urged the ruling National Conference to continue the struggle until the restoration of special status and statehood in its original form.

Hakeem emphasized that the restoration of special status is not the agenda of any particular party but the position of the people of Jammu & Kashmir, including Ladakh. He called on all political parties to avoid using the issue for political gain.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Hakeem said, "Passing the resolution seeking dialogue on restoration of special status by the J&K Assembly is a positive step, but this is just a beginning, not the end. The ruling National Conference, having received a strong mandate for the restoration of special status under Article 370 and Article 35A in the recent assembly elections, is now duty-bound to carry forward the struggle for the restoration of special status and statehood in its original form, which also includes Ladakh.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelNational Conference must fulfill the commitment made to the people of J&K in its election manifesto."

Hakeem also urged the National Conference and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to work with the National Opposition "INDIA Alliance" to introduce the J&K Assembly Resolution on Special Status in Parliament. He reminded that National Conference is a key ally of the "INDIA Alliance," which has a significant presence in Parliament. Hakeem reiterated that the demand for special status is not the issue of any one political party, but the unified demand of the people of Jammu & Kashmir, including Ladakh, and called on all political parties to refrain from politicizing the matter.(KNS).
