Hands on Training on Advanced Techniques in Industrial Microbiology Concludes at IIIM Srinagar

Srinagar, February 15 (KNS): The Hands on Training Program on Advanced Techniques in Industrial Microbiology concluded at CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM), Srinagar, with participation from all across India.

In a video message, Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Director, CSIR-IIIM, congratulated the participants on the successful completion of the training program and lauded the participants for their dedication and diligent engagement throughout the training.

He emphasized on the importance of these hands-on training programs in providing job-oriented practical training, as well as raising scientific temperament among participants. He said that these trainings also provide a flavour of research to young students and may encourage them to take up research as a career. He further said that such trainings and skilling courses are pivotal to achieve the goals of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The three-day training program witnessed the participation of around twenty candidates from various states, including Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Telangana, Kerala, and Jammu and Kashmir.

The sessions comprised expert lectures and practical demonstrations on advanced techniques in industrial microbiology. On the first day, Dr Syed Reyaz Ul Hassan, Senior Princpal Scientist gave Introductory Lecture on PCR & Real-Time PCR: Applications in Microbiology, followed by practical sessions in Microbial Biotechnology Lab.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelOn Day Two, Dr Aabid Bashir Sofi gave a lecture on “Fungal endophytes of Rosa damascena: ecological functions and bioactive potential” followed by practical sessions on Industrial microbiology. Dr Phalisteen Sultan gave a lecture on “Bio-prospection of MAPs and Role of Biotechnology in MAPs” followed by practical training of Techniques, Sterilization, and Demonstration cum lecture on Bar Coding of life. Hands-on Training & Expert Lecture on Plant Cytology: Techniques, Applications, and Practical Demonstration was also conducted on same day. The participants were also introduced to Plant Gene Bank.On Day three Dr. Raouf Ahmad Mir COO, Hapico Industries Private Limited gave an expert lecture on “Development of Biotechnology-Based industrial products”. The lecture was followed by Hands-on training on using Column Chromatography and isolation protocols. Practical demonstration on preparation of plant extracts using different solvents and methods for isolation of bioactive compounds was also performed on last day of the program.

During the valedictory session, participants provided positive feedback, expressing interest in longer duration training programs for more exposure. The training program was conducted under the CSIR-IIIM Integrated Skill Initiatives.(KNS)
