Jammu, Nov 28 (KNS) A journalist Sarfarz Daing's family lost their house in a JDA anti encroachment drive. The next day, their Hindu neighbour Kuldeep Kumar offered them a five marla plot to rebuild. His daughter Tanya signed the gift deed. A video of the gesture went viral.
Leaders from several parties visited the area. They said the demolition looked selective. Former BJP chief Ravinder Raina said he was pained by the action and promised help. He said the Lieutenant Governor had issued no demolition order.

Congress leader Raman Bhalla called the action wrong and asked for accountability. A PDP team led by Varinder Singh Sonu also called it selective. They questioned why small houses were removed while larger encroachments remained.
The JDA said the drive was part of a wider effort to clear its land. The government told the assembly that more than sixteen thousand kanals of JDA land in Jammu are under encroachment.(KNS)
