Baramulla January 12 (KNS): Inspector General of Police Kashmir, V. K. Birdi-IPS, undertook a visit to Baramulla district in North Kashmir today, where he inspected the on-ground scenario of the Police Drug De-addiction Centre & assessed the overall functioning of the centre. Besides, he inspected the construction work of under-construction Police Post in Old town Baramulla & also visited Police Station Baramulla.
Accompanied by DIG NKR, Vivek Gupta-IPS, and other notable officers including SSP Baramulla Amod Ashok Nagpure-IPS & SP Headquarters Baramulla, the IGP Kashmir engaged in a comprehensive assessment during his visit.
During his visit to the Police Drug De-addiction Centre, IGP Kashmir while interacting with the public, assured them that the war against drugs will continue till the end of this menace. IGP Kashmir appreciated the swift action of J&K Police especially Baramulla Police in tackling the narco-terrorism as well as the drug menace. The action against the drug menace will be continued with more pace, said the IGP Kashmir. He further appealed the general public to cooperate & inform police whenever they notice any drug peddling in the area so as to save the future of youth of the valley. IGP Kashmir also highlighted the importance of rehabilitating victims of drug abuse. Recognizing the severe impacts of drug abuse on individuals and communities, Shri V.K Birdi emphasized the importance of combining law enforcement efforts with initiatives that address the root causes of addiction and support the recovery and reintegration of affected individuals into society. The rehabilitation efforts at the Police Drug De-Addiction Centre aim not only at breaking the cycle of addiction but also at reintegrating individuals into society as productive and healthy members said V.K Birdi.
Emphasizing the importance of fostering open communication within families, he advised parents of the recovering patients to dedicate quality time to their children, highlighting that a communication gap often contributes to behavioural issues in youngsters.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelFurther, IGP Kashmir engaged with the dedicated staff members of the Centre and took stock of overall functioning of the centre. Expressing his contentment with the overall functioning of the facility, he took note of any concerns raised by the staff and assured swift resolution of the issues.
Later, IGP Kashmir inspected the on-going work of under-construction Police Post Old Town Baramulla, emphasizing the importance of establishing a robust and modern facility that aligns with the evolving needs of law enforcement in the area. IGP Kashmir also visited & inspected Police Station Baramulla which prominently targeted essential elements, such as crime data and statistics, with a keen emphasis on evaluating the effectiveness of ongoing initiatives. It aimed at identifying areas for improvement to further bolster the law enforcement apparatus. Additionally, the examination delved into the operational aspects of the Woman Help Desk, Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS), reporting systems and the accommodation and allied facilities provided for jawans. Emphasizing the pivotal role of efficient record-keeping in the police station, IGP Kashmir underscored the importance of streamlined processes and organized documentation for the overall efficiency of law enforcement efforts.
While interacting with the officials and jawans posted at the Police Station, he complimented them for their dedication and commitment and urged upon them to continue their duties with same passion besides, emphasized upon them to adopt people-friendly practices while discharging their duties. He urged upon the officers to prioritize the redressal of grievances reported at the Police Station in a professional manner and to ensure frequent interaction with the locals which will help in creating a strong bond between police and public.
