Jammu, 12 Dec(KNS): M. Suleman Choudhary, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Traffic J&K, conducted an extensive tour of Samba and Kathua districts today to assess the traffic situation and monitor the progress of ongoing construction projects, including the DAK Expressway.
He was accompanied by Girdhari Lal, JKPS, SSP Traffic Rural Jammu, Sukhdev Singh, Dy.SP Traffic Samba-Kathua, and other Traffic Police officers.
The IGP reviewed key traffic hotspots along the NH-44 corridor, from Jammu to Lakhanpur, which have been significantly impacted by construction activities. Particular attention was given to congestion-prone areas, where the construction of the DAK Expressway has led to bottlenecks, causing delays and traffic disruptions.
During the visit, the IGP stressed the importance of completing construction projects on time while minimizing the impact on traffic flow. He highlighted the need for proper signage, alternative routes, and coordinated planning to mitigate disruptions.
Specific congestion points discussed during the tour included Balol Bridge near Hotel Sarovar, JK Oil Mills Bari Brahmana, Sidco Chowk, Main Market Bari Brahmana, Bari Brahmana Chowk towards Bishnah Cut, Railway Cut, Sabji Mandi Bari Brahmana, Marigold Palace, Aracot, Palli Morh, Dayalachak Chowk, Chann Rorian, Rajbagh, Sakhtachak, Barnoti, and Hatli Morh.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The IGP directed officers to prioritize maintaining a steady flow of traffic, even at reduced speeds, to prevent complete standstills. He urged traffic personnel to use their expertise in managing congestion, diverting traffic when necessary, and resolving issues promptly.
Emphasizing the need for close coordination between Traffic Police, construction agencies, and other stakeholders, the IGP called for collective efforts to address the challenges posed by ongoing development work.
He also appealed to the public for patience and cooperation during this transitional period, assuring them that measures were being taken to ensure smoother travel.
This visit underscores the commitment of the J&K Traffic Police to creating a safer and more efficient traffic environment while facilitating infrastructure development in the region.(KNS).
