Jammu & Kashmir to Witness Rain and Snow from February 25-28


Srinagar, February 23 (KNS): The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a weather advisory predicting light to moderate rain and snowfall across Jammu and Kashmir from the evening of February 25 to late night on February 28. Isolated heavy snowfall is also expected in some areas of both the Kashmir and Jammu divisions during this period.

As per the forecast, the weather is expected to remain generally dry on February 23 and 24. However, from February 25 onwards, the region will experience increasing cloud cover, leading to precipitation, which may disrupt normal life. Authorities have warned of possible temporary disruptions in surface transportation, particularly along key mountain passes such as Sadhna Pass, Razdan Pass, Sonamarg-Zojila-Gumri axis, Mughal Road, Sinthan Pass, and other major roads in hilly districts. Tourists, travelers, and transporters have been urged to plan their journeys accordingly and adhere to official traffic advisories.

Additionally, farmers are advised to suspend irrigation and other farming activities during this period due to the expected precipitation. The advisory also notes a significant drop in daytime temperatures across the region. (KNS)
