Srinagar, May 28 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly has finalized the composition of three key Financial Committees—Public Accounts, Estimates, and Public Undertakings—for the year 2025–26 without conducting elections.
This decision follows a consensus reached among all legislative parties to nominate their members based on the principle of proportional representation, thus avoiding the need for elections as originally scheduled under the House regulations.
Speaker Advocate Abdul Rahim Rather, in a formal notification, declared the committee members, citing no political party had submitted nominations during the stipulated period, despite the earlier notice issued on March 25, 2025.
The appointed members are as follows:
Public Accounts Committee (Chairman: Sham Lal Sharma): Mubarik Gul, Tariq Hameed Karra, Nazir Ahmed Khan (Gurezi), Balwant Singh Mankotia, Qaysar Jamshaid Lone, Altaf Ahmed Wani (Kaloo), Javid Hassan Baig, Dr.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelDevinder Kumar Manyal, Sajad Shaheen, and Muzaffar Iqbal Khan.
Estimates Committee (Chairperson: Shamim Firdous): Ghulam Ahmad Mir, Abdul Majeed Bhat Larmi, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Mir, Pawan Kumar Gupta, Prof. Gharu Ram Bhagat, Ajaz Ahmed Jan, Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani, Chander Prakash Ganga, Payare Lal Sharma, and Arjun Singh Raju.
Public Undertaking Committee (Chairman: Ali Mohammad Sagar): Saifullah Mir, Ali Mohammad Dar, Baldev Raj Sharma, Mir Mohammad Fayaz, Shakti Raj Parihar, Ranbir Singh Pathania, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Shah Veeri, Showkat Hussain Ganie, Saif Ud Din Bhat, and Tanvir Sadiq.
The new committee members will serve until March 31, 2026.(KNS)
