Srinagar, October 31 (KNS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha urged all to "accept the reality" of Jammu & Kashmir’s current Union Territory status.
His remarks came while speaking to reporters on sidelines of the UT foundation day Celebration function in Srinagar.
Notably, many political parties in J&K including rulling National Conference stayed away from the function.
"This is the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir today, and we should accept this reality," Sinha stated, underscoring the commitment to developing the J&K under its current status while acknowledging the promise of future statehood.
Reflecting on statements from the Prime Minister and Home Minister, Sinha reiterated that a return to statehood is planned following a delimitation process and subsequent assembly elections.
In his address, LG Sinha also highlighted achievements in the past five years, praising efforts that have fostered peace, prosperity, and significant milestones for the people of Jammu & Kashmir.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
"This has brought peace and development, contributing to prosperity for the people," he noted, underscoring the administration’s efforts toward building a stable and democratic environment.
Referencing the recent Lok Sabha elections, Sinha pointed to increased democratic engagement as a positive development for the region, remarking on the growing civic participation.
He also reiterated the government’s commitment to grassroots governance, emphasizing the importance of Panchayati Raj institutions and urban local bodies as vehicles for local progress.
LG Sinha assured the public that while some forces might seek to disrupt the region’s stability, the administration remains focused on maintaining peace. He firmly stated, "There are some people trying to spoil it, but no one should attempt to disturb the peace here." (KNS)
