Srinagar, July 1(KNS): The Committee for Fixation of Fee Structure of Private Educational Institutions (FFRC), Jammu & Kashmir (UT), has issued a clarification regarding the charging of transport fees by private schools during academic breaks.
In a corrigendum to its earlier order dated July 25, 2024, the committee has modified Point No. 1 to regulate transport fees during winter break in Kashmir division and summer break in Jammu division.
Private schools that operate their own transport services will now be allowed to charge only 50% of the usual transport fee during these break periods. However, schools that outsource transport services to third-party operators or contractual agencies are barred from charging any transport fees during the break.
This new directive will come into effect from the academic session 2024-25 for Kashmir division and from 2025-26 for Jammu division onwards.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The Directorates of School Education in Kashmir and Jammu have been instructed to ensure strict compliance and proper monitoring of this decision.
Justice Suni Hall, former judge and Chairperson of the FFRC, emphasized the importance of transparency and fairness in fee collection, especially during periods when transport services are not fully operational.
The order has been circulated to all private schools, government departments, and made public to inform parents, students, and the general public.
The FFRC hopes this move will ease the financial burden on families during school holidays.
