J&K Records 212 Drug Trafficking Convictions from 2018 to 2022: NCRB Report

Srinagar, Apr 1 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir recorded 212 convictions for drug trafficking between 2018 and 2022, according to the latest data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). The highest number of convictions was reported in 2022, with 84 cases, surpassing the previous four years.


In 2018, the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, including Ladakh, recorded 29 convictions under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe number rose to 69 in 2019 but saw a sharp decline to 13 in 2020. The convictions slightly increased to 17 in 2021 before surging to 84 in 2022.

Meanwhile, Ladakh, which became a separate Union Territory in 2019, reported no convictions in 2020 and 2021. However, in 2022, two convictions were recorded under the NDPS Act. (KNS)
