Shalimar, Feb 22 (KNS):Agriculture Minister Javid Dar Saturday highlighted the importance of blending modern agricultural innovations with traditional farming practices at the Gongal 10th SKAUST-K Agri Tech Mela, held at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) in Shalimar on February 22-23.
Speaking at the event, Dar highlighted the festival’s role in promoting sustainable agriculture, improving livestock management, and fostering innovation in the farming sector. “The Gongal festival is more than just a celebration of agriculture; it is an opportunity to renew our commitment to sustainable farming practices, improve livestock management, and introduce innovative farming technologies,” he stated.

Dar also stressed the need for agricultural expansion across Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring that farmers in North and South Kashmir benefit from technological advancements. He reiterated the government's commitment to supporting farmers through initiatives that merge traditional knowledge with modern solutions.
"Our farmers are actively engaging with new innovations in agriculture and allied sectors," Dar noted, adding that efforts are underway to promote awareness about advanced farming methods in different districts.
