JK Teachers Forum KickStarts Anti-Drug Campaign in Bandipora Schools

Bandipora, April 7 (KNS): In a significant initiative to combat rising drug abuse, the Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF), Bandipora district, on Monday launched a district-wide awareness campaign in more than 100 government schools.

An official spokesperson said the campaign aims to sensitize students about the harmful effects of drug addiction.

Teachers affiliated with the Forum used morning assemblies in primary, middle, high and higher secondary schools to deliver short and impactful messages on the physical, psychological, and social consequences of substance abuse.

Thousands of students across educational zones of the district participated in the awareness sessions.

JKTF District General Secretary for Bandipora Anjum Nisar, while speaking to the media, emphasized the crucial role of teachers in the fight against drug abuse.

“The government is determined to make Jammu and Kashmir drug-free. Teachers are key stakeholders in this mission. Today, we informed students in nearly 100 schools about the dangers of addiction,” he said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He added that the Forum has resolved to continue this effort by dedicating 10–15 minutes every day during morning assemblies in all schools to raise awareness. “It is our moral and professional responsibility to protect the young generation and nurture them into responsible citizens,” Nisar said.

Mir Bashir, UT General Secretary of JKTF, echoed the sentiment, stating that the Forum stands firmly with the government’s campaign against drug abuse under Nasha Mukht Bharat.

“If children are sensitized early, they will not only safeguard themselves but also influence their peers and families,” he said. He urged the administration to institutionalize daily anti-drug awareness talks in schools through formal government orders.

The campaign has drawn praise from parents and civil society members, who expressed hope that such sustained awareness efforts would lead to a safer and more conscious youth population in the region. (KNS)
