Kashmiri Athlete Selected for Indian Squad at Asian Junior Soft Tennis Championship

 Srinagar, Jan 14 (KNS) : In a significant achievement for the Union Territory, young athlete Mohammad Qais has earned a place on the Indian national team for the upcoming 2nd Asian Junior Soft Tennis Championship 2026, scheduled next month.

 
An official from the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council informed Kashmir News Service (KNS) that a young athlete Qais's selection is a direct result of the department's sustained efforts to promote and bolster sporting activities across the Kashmir valley.
 
The official stated that this selection represents a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the ascent of young local athletes who are now representing the Union Territory on national and international stages. He noted that Qais has secured his national team position at a notably young age, propelled by a record of consistent excellence.

"These talented individuals are consistently translating their potential into tangible success, bringing laurels to the region and inspiring a new generation," the official added.
 
The championship will provide Qais with a global platform to showcase his skill and dedication as he competes against Asia's finest junior players.
 
In a related development underscoring the rising prowess of Kashmiri athletes, a group of cyclists from North Kashmir's Baramulla district excelled at a national event earlier this week, demonstrating that the era of female athletes lagging behind is conclusively over. (KNS)
