Kokernag Martyr DSP Humayun Remembered on 4th Anniversary; Family's Grief Still Fresh, Nation's Pride Undimmed

Srinagar, Sep 13 (KNS): The sacrifice of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Humayun Muzaffar, who laid down his life in the line of duty during the Kokernag encounter, was remembered on the fourth anniversary of his martyrdom, as family, colleagues and people across Jammu and Kashmir paid rich tributes to the fallen officer.

DSP Humayun, son of retired Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Hassan Bhat, was killed during the Kokernag encounter along with Army personnel while carrying out a major counter-terrorism operation in the Gadol forests of Kokernag in south Kashmir's Anantnag district in September 2023.

Known for his professionalism, courage and unwavering commitment to duty, Humayun served in the Jammu and Kashmir Police and was involved in several counter-terrorism operations, officials said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

His death four years ago was widely mourned across Jammu and Kashmir, with tributes pouring in from police personnel, political leaders and members of the public.

For his family and colleagues, his sacrifice remains a lasting reminder of the risks faced by security personnel while performing their duties, they added.

The Kokernag encounter continues to be remembered as an operation in which security personnel made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. (KNS)
