Srinagar January 05 (KNS: In a significant move to counter the growing menace of drug abuse, Kulgam police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A Police party of Police Post Mirbazar during patrolling in Furrah intercepted a suspicious person identified as Mohd Rafiq Sheikh@Raff dozer son of Habibullah sheikh resident of Furrah. During search, 248 grams of Charas like contraband substance was recovered from his possession. Subsequently, the said person was arrested.
In an another incident, police party of police station DH Pora during Naka checking near govt middle school Gandhwani, DH Pora apprehended one person identified as Waseem Ahmad Bhat son of Fayaz Ahmad Bhat resident of Gandhwani DH Pora and recovered 1235 grams of grinded Cannabis like contraband substance.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Regarding the incidents, cases under relevant sections of law stands registered at police station Qazigund and DH Pora respectively and investigation has been taken up.
Kulgam Police emphasized upon general public to cooperate in the fight against drug-related crimes to get rid from the menace of drugs. Citizens are encouraged to report nearest Police Station or contact through helpline 112 if any suspicious activities or instances related to drugs are noticed for prompt and timely action from the Police.(KNS)
