Srinagar, Sep 17 (KNS): Leader of Opposition (LoP) and senior BJP leader Sunil Sharma Thursday said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has "no authority, no power and no strength" to govern and should resign if he cannot deliver instead of wasting five years and public money.
Whatever you tell them, they say that I do not have anything to do. I do not have the authority. I do not have the power. I do not have the strength. Do we have to wait for 5 years for them to say that they do not have the power? the senior BJP leader told news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) during a visit to South Kashmir.
He said within two years it has become clear that Omar does not have the strength to do anything, and claimed the people would be told after five years that nothing could be done for want of authority.
If you have integrity, if we take the result of 2 years, then in 2 years, we have come to know that CM Omar does not have the strength to do anything... So, in total, if we draw a conclusion of 5 years, then after Omar, we cannot do anything because we do not have the strength, Sharma said.
Questioning the continuation of the government, he asked, Why should we lie to people when we will not be able to do anything after 5 years? Why should we forcefully take 2-1.5 lakhs and spend people's tax money? At the end of the day, we have to say that after 5 years, we do not have the strength. So, what are we waiting for?
Sunil Sharma said if statehood is restored, fresh elections will follow under a new constitutional arrangement, making the present government's continuation pointless.
If we get the state tomorrow, then there will be an election again because we have to get the state with the new constitutional arrangement. That means there will be a new election. So, why should we wait for the election? Destroy the government. Let's sit down and dissolve the SMA, he said.

The LoP also accused Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather of being biased for curtailing the duration of the ongoing session to save the government.
He is biased because he wants to save the government. He is a custodian of the assembly... They will keep the time less. They will definitely be considered biased for the session, he said.
Comparing J&K with other states, he said, If you compare it with Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, then it will be unfair to the people here. In Rajasthan... there are staff in schools. There is not so much unemployment there. There are staff in hospitals. Everything is there there. You are not doing anything on the ground here.
Responding to Omar's claim that the BJP wants his government to fall, Sunil Sharma said, We will not look at the government at any cost. And we will never topple it. I promise you that the BJP will never topple it. Omar knows that the BJP will not do such a thing. Nor are we going to do it.
If it topples on its own, we do not have to be responsible for it. But the BJP will not topple it. Omar knows that. We have told them that we will never topple your government, he added.
On the opposition's strategy for the autumn session, he said, We will not surround it, but we will raise people's issues. We will raise people's issues regarding statehood.
On the statehood timeline, he referred to Omar's recent remark, saying, You heard Omar Abdullah's statement. He said that when Amit Shah will wake up from his sleep, the statehood will come. That means he knows when it is going to come.
Defending the Centre's record, Sharma said, All the development that has happened in the past 10-12 years has never happened... there is no comparison in it. People are telling. There is no need for CM Omar's certificate in it. (KNS)
