Srinagar, Oct 21 (KNS): Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, has directed the Union Territory’s police force to intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible for the recent militant attack in Gangeer, Ganderbal, which left seven people dead, including a doctor, and several others injured.
Speaking at the Police Commemoration Day event at the Armed Police Complex in Zewan, Srinagar, LG Sinha condemned the attack, stating that such violence against innocent civilians cannot be tolerated.
He urged the police to track down the perpetrators and ensure they face strict punishment. He also extended his condolences to the families of the victims.
Emphasizing a no-tolerance approach to terrorism, LG Sinha called for coordinated efforts between the police, army, and Central forces to root out terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir.
He highlighted the ongoing threat posed by terrorism, particularly from across the border, and warned of attempts to destabilize peace in the region.
Praising the Jammu and Kashmir police for their bravery and professionalism, LG Sinha said the force has been exemplary in maintaining law and order, combating militancy, and assisting the public during natural calamities.
He urged the public to recognize the role of the police and cooperate fully with them.

The LG also paid tribute to the fallen personnel of the police, CRPF, and army over the past year, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to supporting the families of the slain security forces.
He emphasized the efforts to ensure that the next of kin of fallen heroes receive all entitled benefits.
Addressing the recent Lok Sabha and Assembly polls, LG Sinha said the high voter turnout demonstrated the people’s desire to strengthen democracy in the region.
He also highlighted the aspirations of J&K’s youth, who are pursuing government jobs and entrepreneurship.
He further stated that the administration and police are working diligently to combat drug abuse, which he described as a growing threat to the future generation of Jammu and Kashmir.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, Cabinet Ministers, and several MLAs attended the event.
The militant attack in Gangeer, Ganderbal, claimed the lives of a local doctor from Budgam and six laborers. (KNS).
