Medical Professionals Urge Reduction in Study Leave Waiting Period under SRO 234 of 2020

Srinagar, Mar 18 (KNS): Medical professionals in Jammu and Kashmir have raised concerns over the recent increase in the study leave waiting period under SRO 234 of 2020, which has been extended from 3 years to 5 years. The extended waiting period, they argue, is hindering timely access to advanced education, affecting the overall quality of healthcare in the region.

Comparing the policy with other states like Haryana, Odisha, Nagaland, MP, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra, which maintain a waiting period of 2 to 3 years, the healthcare professionals are calling for a reduction to 3 years, or ideally 2 years, to retain skilled doctors and foster professional growth.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The medical community in Jammu and Kashmir believes that such a move would enable doctors to enhance their expertise, contribute to improved healthcare services, and prevent the potential loss of talent to other regions. A formal request has been submitted to the Hon'ble Minister of Health, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, seeking to align the region’s policy with national standards. (KNS)
