 Srinagar, May 30 (KNS): After four weeks, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was allowed to offer Friday prayers at Jama Masjid. 

 
As per the statement issued here, he said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir should have the first right to jobs in their own land and should not be denied employment on any pretext. He called on authorities to revisit policies that cause distress, particularly among the youth.
 
Mirwaiz also paid homage to Shaheed-e-Millat, Shaheed-e-Hurriyat, and the martyrs of Hawal on their 34th and 22nd martyrdom anniversaries, which were on May 21. He regretted that due to his detention, he could not collectively pay tribute at the Shaheed Mazar in Eidgah.
 
He as per statement further said, "since September last year, they keep detaining and releasing me again and again. The saddest part for me is being away from the pulpit of Jama Masjid." 
 
He also said that the ongoing harassment, including false accusations of property ownership and a recent FIR against him and his close kin, as part of a continuous campaign against him.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
 
Mirwaiz criticized the policy of seeking verifications and clearances from Kashmiris applying for jobs, passports, or identification cards, describing it as causing great stress among people. He called for an end to these discriminatory practices.
 
With a new government set to form in India, Mirwaiz expressed hope that it would take a realistic and humane approach to the Kashmir issue. He reiterated his and Hurriyat's belief in resolving the issue through dialogue for lasting peace and progress in the region.
 
Mirwaiz also expressed grief over a recent road accident in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu district, where a bus carrying pilgrims crashed, resulting in 22 deaths and dozens of injuries. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
 
"I pray to Allah that He keeps all of you and me in His protection and gives us the strength to stay steadfast," he said as per the statement.(KNS)
