Srinagar, April 18 (KNS): President of the All Jammu & Kashmir Shia Association, Molvi Imran Reza Ansari, has expressed profound sorrow over the demise of renowned religious scholar Allama Aga Syed Mohammad Baqir Al-Moosavi Al-Najfi of Budgam, who passed away in the early hours of Friday, 18th April 2025 at 12:56 AM, at SMHS Hospital Srinagar.
“It is with a heart full of grief that I extend my deepest condolences on the passing of Allama Aga Syed Mohammad Baqir Al-Moosavi Al-Najfi of Budgam,” Imran Ansari said. “On behalf of myself, the All Jammu & Kashmir Shia Association, and the entire Shia community of our region, we mourn the loss of a scholar, a guide, and a spiritual light whose absence has left a void that cannot be filled.”
He added, “Allama Aga Baqir Sahib was not only a towering religious personality of Kashmir, but a bridge between the sacred knowledge of Najaf and the lived experiences of our people. His teachings, his character, and his dedication will continue to inspire generations to come.”
Born on 21st March 1940, Allama Aga Baqir Sahib began his early education at Babul Ilm in Budgam before moving to the esteemed seminary of Najaf Ashraf, where he studied at the prestigious Howza Ilmia.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelSince 1982, he upheld the spiritual and scholarly traditions of the distinguished Aga family, following in the footsteps of great luminaries like Aga Syed Yusuf Al-Moosavi Al-Safavi.
Fluent in Arabic, Persian, and Kashmiri, he was a scholar, thinker, poet, and preacher whose works and discourses touched hearts across communities. He authored numerous books and was conferred the Shaheed Murtaza Mutahhari Award in recognition of his scholarly contributions.
“Today, we grieve,” Imran Ansari said, “but we also remember. We remember his unwavering commitment to truth, his service to religion, and the immense dignity with which he lived.”
He added, “May Allah (SWT) grant him the highest place in Jannat al-Firdous and may his legacy remain a guiding light for our community and the entire Ummah.”
