Srinagar, Nov 05 (KNS): Senior Vice President of J&K Awami National Conference, Muzzafar Shah, on Monday expressed his heartfelt condolences to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq over the recent loss of Mirwaiz Mohammad Ahmad, in a telephonic conversation.
Shah conveyed deep sympathy and solidarity to Mirwaiz Umar, offering prayers for the eternal peace of the departed soul and strength for the grieving family.
In his message, Shah also expressed concern over the actions of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, which restricted Mirwaiz Umar from leaving his residence to receive condolences and perform prayers at Mirwaiz Manzil, Rajouri Kadal.
He condemned the restrictions, calling it an infringement upon basic human rights and dignity, stating that the right to mourn should never be curtailed.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
"This is a violation of human sanctity," Shah said, adding that even in times of personal loss, the people’s right to express grief and conduct religious rites should be respected.
"The restrictions placed on Mirwaiz Umar Farooq from performing his customary mourning rituals are not only unjustified but deeply troubling," he stated.
Shah further urged the Lieutenant Governor to take immediate cognizance of the matter and ensure that such actions, which infringe upon personal freedoms, do not continue. (KNS)
