Srinagar, Nov 29(KNS): The Nageen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO) successfully concluded Mission Ehsaas at Gill Kadal today, marking the culmination of a community-led cleanliness campaign for the restoration of the Gilsar-Khushalsar twin urban lakes.
The concluding event, held in the presence of experts, environmentalists, students, and volunteers, garnered widespread support from stakeholders and received international acclaim.
Initiated in February 2021, Mission Ehsaas aimed at rejuvenating the urban lakes and drew attention from various quarters, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The campaign received commendations from environmentalists, experts, and the general public.
During the concluding event at Gill Kadal, numerous individuals from diverse backgrounds gathered to express their concern and commitment to the restoration and rejuvenation of the lakes. Wangnoo specifically acknowledged the Divisional Administration for their unwavering support, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) for their invaluable assistance in removing thousands of truckloads of muck, Lake conservation and management Authority (LC&MA) for ensuring the prevention of solid waste entering the lakes, stakeholders for their active and responsible partnership, and volunteers for their relentless help and support.
In his address, NLCO President Wangnoo expressed optimism regarding the recent assurances from the Chief Secretary, anticipating sustained restoration and rejuvenation measures to be implemented by the competent authorities soon. He also expressed hope that key issues would be prioritized and addressed promptly.
