Srinagar, Mar 15 (KNS) – The Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday said that a Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted to examine grievances regarding reservation rules has no set timeline for submitting its report, the Social Welfare Minister,Sakeena Itoo informed the Legislative Assembly.
Responding to a query by MLA Sajad Gani Lone, the minister stated that the committee was formed through Government Order No. 2061-JK(GAD) of 2024 to address concerns raised by aspirants for various posts.
The minister revealed that over the past two years, 67,112 Scheduled Caste (SC) certificates and 5,39,306 Scheduled Tribe (ST) certificates have been issued. In the Jammu division, 67,112 SC certificates and 4,59,493 ST certificates were issued, while the Kashmir division saw the issuance of 79,813 ST certificates.
Additionally, a total of 2,608 villages have received reservation-related certificates, with 284 villages under the Actual Line of Control (ALC) category, 551 under the International Border (IB) category, and 2,608 under the Resident of Backward Area (RBA) category.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe Jammu division recorded 268 ALC, 551 IB, and 1,379 RBA certificates, while the Kashmir division had 16 ALC and 1,229 RBA villages receiving certificates.
The minister further stated that 29,693 Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificates have been issued in the last two years, with 27,420 in the Jammu division and 2,273 in the Kashmir division.
She clarified that the government is following the existing criteria for issuing EWS certificates and has no immediate plans for revisions. (KNS)
