Gulmarg, Oct 18(KNS):The non-functioning of street lights in a premier tourist destination, known for its scenic beauty and winter sports, has left both visitors and local businesses in distress, they complained on Friday.

Kashmir News Service (KNS) has received several complaints from tourists and residents regarding the non-functional street lights in key areas of Gulmarg.

They said the lack of street lighting is causing significant inconvenience, especially during the evening hours, which are crucial for both tourist activities and local businesses.

Local shopkeepers have also expressed concern, stating that the lack of lighting is affecting foot traffic and business operations, potentially reducing revenue during the peak tourist season.

"The importance of functional street lighting in a high-traffic tourist area cannot be overstated. It not only improves the visual appeal but also ensures the safety and comfort of tourists, who are the backbone of the region's economy," said a local.

The CEO of Gulmarg Development Authority assured that local KPDCL engineers are on the job and the issue will be resolved within a few days.(KNS).
