Handwara, Aug 7 (KNS): Scores of residents from the Nowgam area of Mawar, Handwara, staged a silent protest on Wednesday at Nowgam Mawar. The protest was held in support of the in-charge Defence Labour Procurement Officer (DLPO) of Nowgam, who has been accused of false allegations by certain individuals. The residents vouched for the dedication and honesty of the DLPO in their duties.

The protestors highlighted that the in-charge DLPO has brought a sense of accountability to the recruitment process for labourers and porters in the army. Due to this newfound integrity, some individuals have made baseless accusations against them. One protestor recounted an incident where a man lodged a false complaint against the department and later admitted he was coerced into doing so, describing it as mere propaganda against honest staff.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The protestors said a few individuals have made several attempts to accuse the officials by lodging false cases against them. These individuals are from the area where the office is located, and the staff has denied them access due to their honest work. As a result, some people have lost access to the office, leading to frustration and efforts to discredit the staff. They urged the director to conduct a ground verification.

They also urged the director to initiate strict action against these vested interests who are making false accusations against the department and to shift the office to a suitable place.(KNS)
