Omar Abdullah Personally Oversees Relief and Rehabilitation Efforts for Srinagar Fire Victims

 Srinagar, Nov 20 (KNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has once again taken a proactive role in disaster relief, personally ensuring that comprehensive support reaches victims of recent devastating fires in the state.

Following the fire in Abi Gurpora, which destroyed numerous homes and displaced 26 families, the Chief Minister immediately assigned his cabinet colleague Satish Sharma, Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani (Sogami), and MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq to visit the affected area. “I assigned my cabinet colleague, Satish Sharma Ji, my Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani - Sogami sb, and MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq sb to visit Abi Gurpora, where a devastating fire destroyed numerous homes and displaced 26 families,” he shared.

The government wasted no time in extending relief. “Following the visit, immediate action was taken to ensure that the affected families received Rs 20,000 in cash assistance yesterday,” said Omar Abdullah as per news agency KNS.

He also announced additional support: “Through the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), each household will receive Rs 1.30 lakh, as well as tents, utensils, blankets, and other essential items. Furthermore, each family will receive Rs 1 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, along with three months' worth of ration, stoves, and gas cylinders by this evening.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel” MLA Tanvir Sadiq has also pledged further support from his Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Omar Abdullah’s commitment to disaster victims is not new. He previously visited Warwan after a fire devastated the area, leaving several families homeless. During his visit, he told the affected families, “This is our moral responsibility as a government to reach out to you in this difficult time. We are here to help you rebuild your lives. The district administration has already provided initial relief, and I have ordered additional support.”

He continues to personally monitor relief and rehabilitation efforts for all affected families. “Together, we are committed to providing swift and comprehensive support to those in need during this challenging time,” he emphasized.
