Z-Morh Tunnel to Boost Sonamarg’s Tourism Potential: Advisor to CM Nasir Aslam Wani

Srinagar, Jan 13 (KNS): Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, has welcomed the opening of the Z-Morh Tunnel, calling it a long-pending demand of locals and tourism stakeholders.

He stated that the tunnel would play a crucial role in transforming Sonamarg into one of the premier skiing destinations in the country.

"Tourists have been waiting for this place for a long time. This will make Sonamarg an all-season destination. The slopes here are very good, and this area can be developed into a ski resort. Once the road to Zojila opens, the entire region will be connected," Wani said.

He noted that improved connectivity would not only enhance tourism but also contribute to the overall development of the area.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"Every season will be connected, progress will improve, and the arrival of tourists will increase," he added.

When asked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit and the possibility of any announcements regarding statehood for Jammu and Kashmir, Wani said it would be premature to comment. "He is already aware of our demand for statehood and has even promised it on the floor of the House," he stated.

Regarding the potential for winter sports activities in Sonamarg, Wani underscored the importance of professional planning and infrastructure development. "It is very important to bring a consultant with us here. The natural slopes in this area provide an excellent opportunity for skiing and other winter sports," he said.  (KNS)
