PM Modi Expected to Fulfill Promise of Statehood for Jammu and Kashmir: Omar Abdullah

Sonamarg, January 13 (KNS) At the inauguration of the Z-Morh Tunnel in Sonamarg, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed optimism that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would soon fulfill his promise of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking at the event, Abdullah commended the Prime Minister for his developmental initiatives and urged him to prioritize the region’s political aspirations.

Addressing the gathering, Omar Abdullah said, “The Prime Minister fulfilled his promise of elections within four months, and my heart tells me that very soon, he will fulfill his third promise to the people of Jammu and Kashmir – restoring its statehood which he had promised on Yoga Day.”

The former Chief Minister’s remarks highlighted the lingering hopes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who have been awaiting the restoration of statehood since the region was reorganized into a Union Territory in August 2019.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Abdullah also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for his presence at the inauguration. “Prime Minister, I thank you for coming to Jammu and Kashmir in this cold weather. Today, even nature seems to support your visit – the skies are clear, and while it’s cold, there is no shortage of sunlight,” he added.

The inauguration of the Z-Morh Tunnel, a crucial infrastructure project providing all-weather connectivity to Sonamarg, is seen as part of the government’s broader push to boost development in the Union Territory. (KNS)
