Jammu, Jan 6 (KNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday virtually inaugurated the new Jammu Railway Division, hailing it as a transformative step in enhancing connectivity and infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the event, PM Modi highlighted the strategic importance of integrating J&K into the national railway network, calling it a crucial milestone for India’s development. He emphasized that the new division would not only benefit Jammu and Kashmir but also strengthen connectivity for Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Ladakh.
The Prime Minister lauded India's engineering prowess, citing landmark projects like the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL), the Anji Khad cable-stayed bridge, and the Chenab Rail Bridge—the highest railway bridge in the world. He described these achievements as symbols of India's growing infrastructure capabilities.

Highlighting job creation, he pointed out that railway modernization has provided employment opportunities to lakhs of youth. The introduction of high-speed Vande Bharat trains and the expansion of metro networks, he said, demonstrate India’s commitment to world-class transport systems.
Reaffirming his vision for a self-reliant India, the Prime Minister stressed that infrastructure development under initiatives like "Made in India" is key to national progress. "Railways are not just about transport—they are the backbone of a developed India," he stated.
With the inauguration of the Jammu Railway Division, PM Modi expressed confidence that India is on the path to becoming a global leader in rail connectivity and economic growth. (KNS)
