PM Modi spoke to Indian cricket team after T20 World Cup win, hails squad

Srinagar, June 30(KNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he spoke to Indian cricket team to extend his congratulations on their victory in the T20 World Cup.

During the call, Modi commended Rohit Sharma for his exceptional captaincy and acknowledged his illustrious T20 career. He also praised Virat Kohli for his pivotal innings in the final match and recognized his significant contributions to Indian cricket.

Following the team's triumph, both Sharma and Kohli announced their retirements from T20 internationals. Modi highlighted Hardik Pandya's crucial final over and Suryakumar Yadav's spectacular catch that dismissed David Miller.

"Spoke to the Indian team and congratulated them on their exemplary success at the T20 World Cup. They have shown excellent skill and spirit throughout the tournament. Each player’s commitment is very motivating," he said in a post on 'X'.
