NewDehli Oct 18 (KNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, on October 22-23. This marks his second visit to Russia this year, following the India-Russia Annual Summit in July.
During the summit, themed "Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security," leaders will discuss key global issues and assess BRICS initiatives. In September, Russian President Vladimir Putin invited Modi for a bilateral meeting on October 22, emphasizing their friendship and the importance of continuing collaborative efforts.
BRIC leaders first met in 2006, with the first official summit taking place in Yekaterinburg in 2009. The group became BRICS with the inclusion of South Africa in 2010.(KNS)
