Srinagar February 07 (KNS): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested 03 drug peddlers in Anantnag and Shopian and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Anantnag, Police Station Mattan received a specific information through reliable sources that one person namely Farooq Ahmad Kumar son of Mohd Subhan Kumar resident of Khul Chohar Mattan has indulged in peddling of narcotic substances and accordingly has hoarded a large quantity of narcotic substance in his residential house. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Mattan and investigation was taken up. On receipt of this information, a police party alongwith Executive Magistrate concerned carried out the search of the said house. During search, about 10 Kgs of Charas Powder and cash of Rs. 2,16,650/- was recovered from the said house besides, the owner of the said house was also arrested. Further investigation in the instant case is going on.
Additionally, Police Party from Police Station Pahalgam at a checkpoint established at Langabal Pahalgam, apprehended one person identified as Shahrukh Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohd Ramzan Sheikh resident of Sheikh Mohalla Sallar and recovered 120 grams of Charas from his possession.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelIn this regard a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pahalgam and investigation was initiated.
Similarly in Shopian, a Police Party led by SHO Police Station Heerpora under the supervision of SP Hqrs Shopian Shri Javed Ahmad-JKPS at a checkpoint established at Borihalan, intercepted a suspicious person. During search, 920 grams of Cannabis powder was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Wanah son of Gamah Wanah resident of Devpora. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 02/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Heerpora. Further investigation is underway to unearth the forward and backward linkages of the arrested individual.
