Police arrests 3 drug peddlers in Shopian, Ganderbal along with contraband substance

June 29 (KNS): Police on Saturday arrested 3 drug peddlers in Shopian & Ganderbal and recovered contraband substance and cash from their possession.

A statement issued to KNS reads: In Shopian, a police party of Police Post Wachi at a checkpoint established at Doublepora, intercepted a vehicle (Tata ACE Gold) bearing registration No. JK13H-0342. During search, heroin like contraband substance weighing about 05 grams and cash amount of Rs.30000 were recovered from the possession of two persons boarding the vehicle. They have been identified as Umar Noor Mohd son of Noor Mohd Bhat & Sameer Ahmad Bhat son of Ali Mohd Bhat, both residents of Wuyan Pampore."

Police said that were arrested & shifted to Police Station Zainapora where they remain in custody.

Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 55/2024 under sections of law was registered in Police Station Zainapora and investigation was going on, it added.

Meanwhile In Ganderbal, a police party led by Incharge Police Post Nagbal at a checkpoint established at Warpahoo Shuhama link road intercepted a vehicle bearing registration No.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelJK01AQ-3910 driven by Abdul Qayoom Wani son of Ali Mohammad Wani resident of Yangoora Ganderbal.

During checking of the vehicle, contraband charas powder like substance weighing 3.476 Kgs was recovered.
He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

In this regard, Case FIR No. 157/2024, under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Ganderbal & further investigation taken up, police said.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace. (KNS).
