Police arrests 7 drug peddlers in Kashmir; Contraband/psychotropic substances recovered

Srinagar January 24 (KNS): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 7 drug peddlers and recovered contraband/psychotropic substances from their possession.

In Anantnag, a Police team from Police Station Bijbehara, at a checkpoint established at Bonpora Uranhal, intercepted an auto-rickshaw bearing registration number JK01K-2485 with three persons on board. They have been identified as Zubair Ahmad Dar son of Nazir Ahmad Dar resident of Khanabal Batangoo, Muzafar Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Yousuf Dar resident of Uranhal and Umar Majeed Ganie son of Abdul Majeed resident of Chee Anantnag. During search, 2.8 Kgs of Charas Powder-like substance was recovered from their possession.

Additionally, a Police party from Police Station Srigufwara intercepted a suspicious individual carrying a bag while approaching from Chek Poshkreeri towards Poshkreeri. The individual attempted to escape upon spotting the naka party but was swiftly apprehended. He has been identified as Mohd Shafi Ganie son of Late Gh Ahmad Ganie resident of Chek Poshkreeri. During search, 1.458 Kgs of Cannabis Powder was recovered from his possession.

Meanwhile, in Sopore, a police team of PS Bomai during patrolling at Tujjer Shareef Sopore, arrested a drug peddler identified as Abdul Hameed Lone son of Mohammad Ramzan Lone resident of Tujjer Shareef Sopore.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelDuring search, 20 grams of Heroin-like substance from his possession. Similarly, at a checkpoint established at Behrampora Drusoo Rafiabad by a team of Police Post Watergam arrested a drug peddler identified as Shabir Ahmad Ganie son of Mohammad Yousuf Ganie resident of Behrampora. During search, 1200 grams of Charas-like substance from his possession.

Meanwhile in Kupwara, a police team of PS Trehgam at a checkpoint near Sumo Stand, Trehgam, arrested a drug peddler identified as Ashiq Ahmad Mochi son of Mohd Sultan Mochi resident of Mochi Mohalla, Trehgam. During search, 55 grams of Charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.
