Poonch police arrest 60-year-old for 'inflammatory' social media post

 JAMMU, JAN 25 (KNS): Police in Poonch district on Sunday arrested a 60-year-old man for allegedly posting "objectionable and inflammatory" content on social media, officials said.

The accused, identified as Onkar Singh, son of late Inder Singh and a resident of Kamsar in Poonch city, was taken into custody after a post he uploaded was found to have "hurt public sentiments" and caused "widespread resentment," a police spokesperson said.
 
"The content had the potential to disturb public order and communal harmony. Swift legal action was taken," the spokesperson said.
 
Singh is in police custody and a case has been registered under relevant sections of law, the official said, adding that further investigation is underway.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
 
In an advisory issued following the arrest, Poonch police urged citizens to act responsibly on social media and refrain from posting or sharing "provocative, misleading or offensive" content, warning of "serious legal consequences."
 
The police also appealed to the public to report any such material to the nearest police station or helpline and to cooperate in maintaining peace and communal harmony in the district. (KNS)
