Welcoming the resolution introduced by some legislators in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly to ban alcohol, the All Shia Association President said that not only Jammu and Kashmir but the entire country should impose a complete ban on alcohol.
He pointed out that all major religions discourage intoxicants, and in Islam, alcohol is strictly prohibited. Given that Muslims form the majority in Jammu and Kashmir, he stressed that humanity itself demands a ban on anything that leads people astray.
Referring to the smoking ban in Gulmarg and Tangmarg, he questioned why the government, which has the power to prohibit smoking, cannot impose a similar ban on alcohol (KNS)
