Baramula, Oct 05 (KNS): The residents of Rashidabad area of Bomai in north Kashmir's Baramulla district staged a protest on Monday against the Jal Shakti Department over shortage of drinking water, blocking the Bandipora-Kupwara road and disrupting vehicular movement, officials said.
The protesters claimed that the area has been without a proper drinking water supply for the past one month, causing hardships to the local population.
The water supply was restored shortly after the protest. However, the residents alleged that the department restores the supply for some time whenever they stage a protest, after which the shortage re-emerges.

Traffic movement on the road remained halted for over an hour due to the protest, with buses and school buses stuck on both sides, causing inconvenience to commuters and students, the officials said.
A police team from Police Station Bomai reached the spot and intervened as the protest disrupted traffic movement, they added.(KNS)
