Srinagar, Oct 17 (KNS) : Senior Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) leader leader Chowdhary Mohammad Ramzan on Friday said the upcoming Rajya Sabha election is not merely a political exercise but a defining test of the collective conscience of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement, he described the election as a “battle for dignity, democracy, and the rightful voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” which he said has been missing for long.
“The Rajya Sabha election is far more than a contest for seats. It is a verdict on the BJP’s policies that have systematically disempowered our people, dismantled our statehood, and denied us our constitutional identity,” he said. “Under the false cloak of development, they sold deceit, and under the banner of democracy, they practiced authoritarianism.”
Ramzan said that since 2019, Jammu and Kashmir has been treated as an “experiment ground ruled by bureaucracy, robbed of representation, and stripped of dignity.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel” He added that while the Assembly elections reflected a “resounding rejection of divisive politics and false promises,” the Rajya Sabha polls now offer an opportunity to translate that sentiment into parliamentary strength.
“This election is about reclaiming what was taken — our statehood, our dignity, our rights, and our place in India’s democratic fabric,” he said. “It is about telling New Delhi that Jammu and Kashmir will not be remembered for silence, but for resilience.”
Urging democratic and secular forces to unite, Ramzan said the fight was not for political gain but for moral survival. “Democracy is not domination; it is dialogue,” he said, adding that the Rajya Sabha election represents the position of Jammu and Kashmir within the soul of the Indian Republic.(KNS).
