Srinagar, October 16, (KNS): The Nigeen Lake Conservation Organization (NLCO) in a statement announced the commencement of the restoration of Spring 5 located in Mughal Mohalla, Rainawari. This restoration work adds another restoration project to Phase 4 of Mission Ehsaas, NLCO’s ongoing initiative focused on the rejuvenation and conservation of water bodies.

Spring 5, once a symbol of life and vitality for the community, had fallen into disrepair and become defunct. Today, NLCO has initiated its efforts to bring the spring back to life, with support from the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) and the Jammu & Kashmir Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LC&MA). The revitalization of this spring is crucial, not only for the restoration but also for alleviating the water crisis faced by the local residents.

Chairman of NLCO, Manzoor Wangnoo, issued a statement on this occasion, saying:

Wangnoo further emphasized that restoring springs is an integral part of water conservation in Kashmir, particularly as these springs contribute to mitigating local water shortages and ensuring the ecological balance of the valley.

The restoration of Spring 5 is expected to set an example for similar initiatives across J&K, and NLCO calls on all stakeholders to continue their active participation in the mission.(KNS)
