Srinagar, Dec 21 (KNS): The Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir, Qazi Irfan, on Saturday issued a detailed advisory for motorists and bikers, emphasizing precautionary measures for safe travel during the ongoing extreme subzero temperatures in the Kashmir Valley.
According to the advisory, travelers are urged to avoid unnecessary journeys, particularly during early mornings and late nights when temperatures are at their lowest. The public is advised to stay updated on weather and traffic conditions and allow additional travel time to prevent rushing on slippery roads.
For vehicle preparation, the advisory recommends using winter or all-season tires for better traction and ensuring the coolant system has sufficient antifreeze. It also emphasizes testing vehicle batteries for cold weather, checking the functionality of lights and wipers, and keeping fuel tanks at least half full to avoid freezing.
