Meets Kashmiri Pandit migrants; Orders swift resolution of resident grievances
Srinagar, Nov 28 (KNS): J&K Peoples Conference President and MLA Handwara Sajad Gani Lone on Friday visited the Nutnussa transit accommodation in Kupwara, where he met Kashmiri Pandit migrants and took a comprehensive stock of their living conditions. He engaged closely with the residents, heard their grievances in detail, and assured them of swift and effective redressal.
As per a statement issued here, Lone undertook an extensive walkthrough of the facility, seeking an unvarnished understanding of the day-to-day hardships faced by PM Package employees stationed there, as well as teachers who shift to the transit colony during the winter months. His review covered essential services, infrastructure gaps, and the broader welfare needs of the community.
The residents flagged serious concerns, particularly the erratic electricity supply amid harsh winter conditions, inadequate sanitation, and the acute shortage of accommodation for Non-Package employees who are compelled to stay on rent outside the colony.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The PC President listened with care and gravity, issuing immediate directions to the concerned departments to address the shortcomings without delay. He emphasised that the welfare of the migrants demands sustained attention, not episodic responses.
Reaffirming his commitment, Lone assured the residents that he would remain accessible, engaged, and responsive to their needs, and that their grievances would not be allowed to linger unresolved.
Chief Spokesperson Adv. Bashir Ahmad Dar also accompanied him during the visit, reaffirming the party’s commitment to the welfare of the migrant community.(KNS)
